There's lots of good sourdough bakeries near the city, but what about the burbs?
While I get mine from Fatto a Mano in Gertrude St on the way to work, where outside the 5k radius can you get good bread - really curious> In my hood until recently we had the wonderful Slovakian bakery "The Sweet Guys" in Olympic Village shopping centre but it just shut when the owners retired (they had fantastic beetroot pies too - will miss those).
So Melburnians - where?

Hello jonb,
Old Evropa Bakery has recently opened a shop in Eltham. Their bread is available in Leo's, I believe, and they also do a number of Farmer's Markets (including Eltham and Hurstbridge). There was one in Mont Albert that I recall but I can't think of the name and I don't know whether it is still there. The St Andrews bakery was also very good though it is probably closer to country than burbs.
I'm sure ther must be heaps around. Maybe Mr Google can help if you are looking for something close to home.
Good luck with your projects.
Farinam
Thanks Farinam
Was in Eltham last Saturday and didn't realise it was there. Will definitely try it out.
