Hooch Near the Bottom

Anonymous

I have just started my starter.  After the first 23 hours it had doubled in size, then by 24 hours it had dropped a bit.  So, as far as growth, I think it is doing fine.  My concern regards what I believe to be hooch.  I have read about having a layer of hooch on top, but my starter had a dark, liquid layer about 1/2 inch up from the bottom of the container.  So the very bottom had healthy looking starter, then there was this liquid layer, then on top of the liquid was more healthy looking starter.  The vast majority of the starter was on top of the liquid layer.  I went ahead and stirred it all together before refreshing, but now I am worried that I should not have done that.  Any thoughts, ideas, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

This is the only thing I have seen on the internet about starter hooch being on the bottom instead of the top.  But mine is ALL on the bottom at day 3.  I have no idea what to do with it or if I should just toss the whole thing and start again.  PLEASE HELP!!
