Hello and Happy ANZAC Day,
My name is Catharina (pronounced Cat-tree-na) and I am an Australian (originally from Perth) currently located in Houston Texas USA (stinking hot and humid). My hubby, and best friend, Dave and I recently moved back here after a 2 year assignment in Singapore. In a past life I was an IT manager for a large offshore drilling company. Today I am proud to say I am a PhD student who has finally found a passion.
I fell in love with the sourdough thingo many years ago when I was given a potato starter by someone --- unfortunately customs officials do not close their eyes to beasties growing in a jar and I have had to tip many a wonderful starter down the sink when moving countries. I recently cultivated a new starter using the pineapple juice method and it is growing great guns --- infact a batch in doubling right now in preparation for a light caraway rye experiment.
Anyway - just thought I'd say hi. I love reading this site --- it feels like I am quite at home with all the aussie accents and multicultural input. I am inspired to retry some of my spelt recipes and make bagels again --- oh - my Canadian hubby will be pleased!
