Hello, I'm fairly new to the sourdough scene. I've been keeping a starter going for over a year now, storing it in the fridge when not baking. It's been very easy to keep it going.
Baked a couple loves yesterday. Accidentally stired my starter with a wooden spoon that I'd stired some bread dough with yeast in it. This morning my starter had risen up and out of the container. Cleaned up the mess and fed it like normal. Had another sourdough explosion. Never saw it act this way before. Wifey pointed out the yeast on the spoon accident which sounds logical to me.
My question is, what do I do now? I don't want to loose this start. Any suggestions?

Hello Philip,
I would just keep on using the starter and I think the activity (if it is due to introduced commercial yeast) will decline after a few cycles and you will be back to normal. In the meantime, put it in a larger container.
Good luck with your projects.
