The only way to find out is to take it out and give it a feed. If it shows signs of life then do a couple of discard/feed cycles until you are happy that it is at full activity and mostly new material and away you go.
If nothing happens, then start from scratch following the method given by SourDom in the Beginners Blogs that you can access from the right hand panel on the Home Page.
