I just killed my sourdough starter I had going for almost 4 months. It was getting so good and I was using it several times a week for waffles and bread. I am so bummed out.
I keep it stored in my second oven...I was preheating the two ovens for some chiabatta and realized I left the starter in one of the ovens. Has anyone else done this? I will start anew in the morning.

I haven't but I'm sorry to hear about that, I would be sad and cross at myself all at the same time - condolence. All the best for the new starter
I've never baked my starter. Only ever left it too long so it's gone mouldy.

Sorry to read what happened. Is it totally cooked through? Is the center still partially liquidy? Is it still viable to use as a base for your new starter? Might be worth a try. Good Luck. Let me know your thoughts. M
yep, i've baked it!!
used the middle soft bit to start again. all good.
