I've got my tickets, Annie's all set for visitors...for a Bali Bake-Off or a Cook-Off at the very least.
We don't have an agenda as yet, but, there will be some casual baking with lots of other fun activities thrown in....cultural activities, sun and sea, shopping, white-water rafting, down-hill cycling and eating, eating, eating! Never a dull moment. If any baking guru out there is interested in contributing their time, we would be delighted.
Please let us know (if you're interested), what you would like to include in the program. The dates are Nov 20 - 24, 2009.
Thanks, Graham, for letting us use the forum to shout out our little (or not so little) event. Pssst...interested, Ross?
Cheers
Wish you guys would be there...It's just 2 hrs from Perth...3 hours from KL.
It is a very long ways from Calfornia. Yes it would be nice but just to far away.
If I stayed in produce-rich California, I'd go to the BBGA San Fran Camp.
Will take lotsa pix.
Perth's a little longer than 2 hours flight away from Bali...direct flights take a bit under 4 hours. But you're right in suggesting it's not far, and I do love the place, certainly including Ubud and surrounds...and the people. Unfortunately, I'm not sufficiently cashed up to accept your kind invitation, since (as previously mentioned on another thread) we're already planning another food sojourn to Malaysia later in the year. I am drooling at the very thought...
Anyway, all the best for the Bali Bake-off! May it be full of fun and flavour!
Cheers
Ross
hehe...tried too hard to sell.
We'll indeed be based in beautiful Ubud. At the moment, I'm having a tough time shortlisting the activities...so many choices.
Good to know that your Msian trip is definite...although, I must say, I wish you could bring it forward. With Ramadan around the corner, we will really be spoilt for choice on what to eat. Food stalls for packing home food to break fast will be mushrooming EVERYWHERE! EVERYDAY! for one whole month. Don't hate me.
There is always something beneficial about where ya live...Gotta count my many Blessings, ya know. But right now I am finding myself wishing home was somewhere a lot more East and South than Ohio. If only my folks had decided that Hawaii was their best home things could'a been different! Hope ya all have lots of fun, and like Duane said send Pictures!
Terri
At least you have lots of oats. I like.

It's as definite as it can be, but still depends on the outcome of my partner's medical investigations...she may have some dietary restrictions, and these will have to be factored into our decision - as food freaks, our main motivation to travel is food, and especially in a food mecca like Malaysia, it's an agonising proposition not to be able to freely sample the vast array of goodies. The intention, though, is to be in Malaysia some time in the next 2-3 months.
Enjoy the Ramadan feast sensations, TeckPoh! Envious, drooling, don't think of food, don't think of food...
Were there some photos and stories Teck Poh?
Soooo sorry. Forgot to inform that due to an unforeseen family emergency, Annie and hubby had to be back in Melbourne. We didn't meet up, but, I did walk right up to her gate. Lovely place, Ubud....indeed, a beautiful setting for a bake-off in the future.
