It's been a while since I've visited here - and I've moved from Panama to Brazil, in the meantime. I managed to create a truly ferociously active starter back in Panama but I don't appearing to be having the same luck here in Brazil. My approach is low tech - I still don't have scales but I'm going for 1:1 ratio of flour and water for feeds. After a week, I've managed to create something that looks and smells just about right but it's not really very active. I get a few small bubbles after feeding but not much change in size....
Any hints?

Is the flour the same? water? if so it may just take more time in your new area to be as active.
All good now. Just needed to perservere.
