Overactive starter on day 2?


I’m brand new to sourdough and just started my starter yesterday.  (1/2 water and 1 cup whole white wheat flour)  I didn’t get around to feeding it today until about 28 hours after i started it.  I was surprised to see it already really bubbly,  and it even had hooch on top.  I took about half the starter out, then feed the remainder another cup of flour and 1/2 cup water.  I looked at it right before bed and it is trying to over flow! Is this normal for day 2???   

(We do keep our house thermostat on 77 this time of year so it’s pretty warm in our house.)
