When shopping for food, try to stick to the perimeter; or around the edges of the store. This is usually where the fresh produce is, as well as the meats and dairy products. These are the things to stick to in a healthy diet. By sticking to the perimeter, you'll only buy things that support a healthy diet.
Many people love drinking iced tea, but try drinking green iced tea instead of "regular" iced tea. Green tea has polyphenols, which help protect against cancer, lower cholesterol and have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Black tea contains polyphenols as well, but far less than green tea. Green tea also has less caffeine than black tea.
You want to set a good example for your child. If you try and tell your kid to eat healthy and not to eat junk food while you're sitting there eating a bag of chips and drinking a soda, they're not likely to listen. But if you eat healthy, your child will want to mimic you and eat healthy as well.
