<p>Because of how I'd laid my hearth out to avoid cutting bricks and maximise area combined with the way I designed the front I've ended up with this gap which I'll have to fill to avoid the loose insulation pouring out. My current thought is a perlite cement - insulation and soft enough to take a bit of compresion as the hearth expands.</p>
