Will it survive 2 weeks in the fridge?

Lisette

We are about to go on a two week holiday and I will put my starter in the fridge. Will it survive this long and do I have to do anything special to refresh it?

Yes it will survive.  I left mine out on the counter for two weeks and forgot to feed it.  The starter is still alive.

I've left starters in the fridge for 3 months...3 TLC refreshments returned it to its bubbly self.

Happy Holidays!

...although I'd be inclined to give it a really good feed before you go.

Have fun away!

The starter I left out on the counter still works but I'm pulling some of my discard out of the fridge and feeding it.  It is always nice to have a backup.

as apparently was i since i left it in the fridge for a few weeks or so. i've been pulling it out daily and feeding it. i generally give it AP flour although i can still see some whole-wheat in there as well. i've also been giving it a spike of sugar now and again. i also tossed in a shot of beer... it just seems like it is very slowly bubbling, nothing like doubling every 24 hours or going crazy and blowing its lid off. any thoughts about keys to reviving?

I left on a 5 month bike tour and my starter came roaring back to life after just a couple of feedings.  I did give it a good feeding before I left and kept it in the fridge.

Very hardy stuff
