The Handmade Bakery is a community supported artisan bakery in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire that operates as a worker co-operative. We produce traditionally crafted bread and patisserie that is slow fermented, using ethical, organic and local ingredients and using no improvers or preservatives.
As the first Community Supported Bakery in Britain we offer a subscription service to local customers, but also sell through markets, shops and supply Unicorn Grocery in Manchester and Suma Wholefoods in Elland.
We have been very successful in gaining a loyal customer base and in advocating sustainable real food and lifestyle throughout the whole of UK.
We have recently moved into larger premises with a café, retail shop and ample room for courses and events and are looking for a baker and co-operative member to join us to take the exciting and innovative venture further. As an equal member of the co-operative you will have a shared responsibility of the full operations of the bakery and your duties will include administrative tasks as well as baking.
Some professional baking experience or training is required, although training in our methodology and 'house style' is provided. We are looking for someone with a passion for real food and building sustainable lifestyles. Experience of co-operative working is an advantage along with energy and enthusiasm.
The working hours include early mornings and weekends.
Please apply in writing describing why you would be suited to the post. Send your application and CV to The Handmade Bakery, Unit 6, Upper Mills, Slaithwaite, HD7 5HA or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to hearing from you!
