Pearl Bakery

In February 1997, Pearl Bakery first opened its doors with only a handful of employees, a small product line and little fanfare. We were one of the first businesses on our block near the edge of Portland’s Pearl District, one block from Powell’s City of Books. Since then, the bakery has grown with our vibrant neighborhood, and we offer our pastries, sandwiches, bread, coffee and tea to the growing number of workers and residents of the Pearl District seven days a week.

Pear Bakery is my favorite. I will not forget the first time I tasted their bread. I thought I died and went to heaven. Exceptional to me is the Kalamata bread and the fig anise roll. Just thinking of it makes my mouth water. Makes me want to run out and buy some right now. Not always possible, so it makes me start baking, holding that ideal in the forefront. Yum, a thousand times. Oh and their fig cookies. To live for.
